After a demolition, the site goes back to bare dirt, and the county's solid waste facility at 289 Public Works Road in York bills the debris at a flat $46 per ton for C&D — the July 2026 rate, up from $44. Priced to the scale house, not a national chart

The South Carolina rules, applied to your parcel

For one owner-occupied, standalone mobile home demolition, South Carolina's asbestos regulation exempts the job — SCDES's rule excludes private residences of four or fewer dwelling units. That exemption disappears when multiple homes on one site are cleared together (a family compound or a small park). At that point, a licensed building inspector's report, a 10-working-day notification to SCDES, and a $50 project license apply.

Two more rules that matter for land reuse: structural burns are prohibited statewide, and demolition-in-place does not trigger a state moving permit — S.C. Code 31-17-360 attaches that permit only to relocation. If you ever wanted to haul a still-viable home off the lot intact, the county treasurer's tax-clearance certificate under 31-17-360 would be required first. Since the county is Wind Zone I (the standard), there is no HUD wind-zone surcharge on any replacement unit you might place.
